INTERPLANETARY CYCLE TRAIL
Discover and experience the scale of our solar system by watching the video before riding the Otago Central Rail Trail. The solar system has been shrunk by by a factor of 100,000,000 to one and mapped onto the Otago Central Rail Trail. The centre of the solar system begins inn Ranfurly and each planet is based on its average orbital distance from the Sun.
The idea of developing a scale model of our solar system on the Otago Central Rail Trail came from Ian C Begg, the grandson of C Begg, co-founder of Dunedin's Beverley-Begg Observatory and the Otago Museum.
